About
I'm Vincent — a game designer and creative based in Toronto. Game design, tap dance, improv, music, freestyle and rap are all just small parts that make up the larger whole: me.
Background
I grew up in Oakville. The first game I ever encountered was Pokémon Red on my cousin's Game Boy — something we'd pass back and forth and obsess over together. That bond stuck with me even as they moved away to Chicago. Growing up, I split my time between dancing, doing theatre, and playing games. It wasn't really a split, though... They fed the same itch: understanding how something works well enough to get lost in it. That obsession eventually turned into a career. Shortly after graduating UOIT (Now OntarioTech) with an Honors in Game Development and Entrepreneurship, I spent nine years working at Rockstar Games on titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA VI.
AAA taught me a lot about scale, collaboration, and what it actually takes to make a world feel real. But it also made me hungry for smaller, weirder experiments — which is what I spend most of my time on now.
Outside of games
I'm a tap dancer and have been performing and training for years. In fact, the reason I moved to Toronto was to continue my connection to the arts. There's something about the intersection of rhythm, improvisation, and physical problem-solving that scratches the same itch as game design — you're always negotiating between structure and spontaneity.
Music is the other constant. I make it, listen to it obsessively, and have plenty of game OSTs in rotation.
Music & dance →What I'm doing now
Working on tabletop game designs, a handful of digital games and apps, and writing about game design. I'm interested in what games can be when they're not trying to be everything at once.
In the arts, I'm performing in Neo Soul Ties this year at the Ottawa Fringe Festival and continuing to hit up different jams around the city. I have 3 new singles coming out this year and I recently hosted my first headlining gig, Vinny's Beatzzeria.
