GotchaGatcha!!

A tabletop card game designed around the theme of gambling — available on Steam Workshop in TTS.

GotchaGatcha!! card spread

Overview

GotchaGatcha!! is a tabletop card game I designed and built from the ground up. I've been working on this one for a couple months, from the initial concept and ruleset through to an implementation for Tabletop Simulator, playable online via Steam Workshop.

This game was an exploration in to one of my favourite things to do in a card game — draft cards. Each turn, players select a pack from the available ones on the table and pass hands after every player has played a card. Every turn is a gamble in this volitile trading card game market — take a risk and mess with other players as you try to create the highest value deck!

What I worked on

  • Designed the core card game mechanics and ruleset from scratch, iterating through playtesting to balance fun and strategy
  • Built a scripted implementation for Tabletop Simulator using Lua to add some automation to the game
  • Designed all card layouts for print and digital use, with a focus on readability and player clarity — card art is by a collaborator
  • Managed the full development pipeline solo — from concept and design documentation through to implementation and publishing on Steam Workshop
